Saint Joseph School educates the whole person intellectually, spiritually, and physically in a safe, nurturing environment. While maintaining academic excellence, we empower our students by instilling Catholic values and life long commitment to learning.
Saint Joseph School is committed to excellence in education by providing a comprehensive learning atmosphere for children from preschool through grade eight. “Comprehensive” at Saint Joseph’s means a total package of academic, moral, and spiritual guidance. The academic environment at Saint Joseph School instills a respect for education and humanity that helps give children a feeling of accomplishment and self-reliance.
Saint Joseph School was established in 1863. With the assistance from the “Daughters of the Heart of Mary,” a school of 125 girls was opened. Four years later, the school was opened at its present location for children under nine years old. In 1883 a twelve room schoolhouse was built, followed in 1929 by the present 24 classroom building.
The Saint Joseph School Board serves as an advisory board to the pastor and administration. Members are appointed to participate on the school board. Areas of responsibility include planning, policy formulation, finances, selection or appointment of the principal, and development, including public relations and marketing. The board meets every month, usually the second Tuesday of every month. Committees meet once a month and are chaired by a board member. The five committees are Curriculum, Development & Finance, Marketing, Technology, and Facilities.
